Open Question: Dish Network – Should we get a Sanyo 720 or Sanyo 1080p HD set?

We are on a budget so we are going to get a Sanyo big screen TV from Walmart. This is in spite of all the bad things people say about Sanyo. We've made our decision on this brand so please don't bother slamming it, we are are aware that it's a third tier brand. We've had two Sanyo 26" 720 LCD TVs (DP26746) for a couple of years now and we've been happy with them, except for having to turn the brightness all the way up. Should we get the 50" 720 DP50747 Plasma or the 52" DP52848 LCD set? We plan on watching Dish Network most of the time. We have a PS3 although we won't be watching a lot of Blue Ray discs. The black on the 52" looked a lot blacker than on the 50", which I suppose is a good sign. Also is there much difference between the DP50747 and the newer DP 50749? I would have to drive an hour each way to buy the 50749 if we chose that one, would it be worth it in terms of improved features?
